Too many books and not enough space?
Are you downsizing, moving, or have to dispose of a lot of books after a major life event?
We operate a community book donation pick up service. We will come to your house and pick up your book donations and disc media and find new homes for them, free of charge. Just let us now the date and how many boxes or bags of books you want to donate (an approximation is fine). Leave them out in the morning in front of your door on the date you chose, and we will stop by and pick them up from between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Hi! I’m Mike, a native Arizonan, now retired, who runs a small family book business. This is how I support my family (wife, 3 wonderful kids, and 2 cats) . I have a life-time love of books and reading, and have spent some of my happiest hours in libraries and bookstores.
We don’t buy books, but we accept them as donations, and handle the work of removing, hauling them away from your home and finding them new homes.
The majority of used books are not profitable to buy or sell for a number of reasons (such as lack of current popularity, more supply than demand, damage, and out-of-date information), but still have value in their appeal to readers.
About 2% to 5% of books in the average donation lot have resale value, and we sell those to support our business. The rest we donate, based on age level and subject matter, to a variety of charities, including charity book sales, nursing homes, libraries, and student and adult literacy programs..
Just about any books! New and old, hardcover and softcover, fiction and non-fiction. We also accept DVDs, CDs, and video games, audiobooks, and vinyl records. We accept encyclopedia sets if they are complete.
Just about any amount! If you have more than is likely to fit in an SUV or van, let us know so we can make arrangements for a larger pick-up vehicle. If we need to make two trips, we will let you know we will be returning for the rest with a note or by text or email.
By arrangement, we can usually pick up large collections of books when you are cleaning out a home for a loved one who is deceased or transitioning to a new home.
If you have a large home full of books or a storage facility that you need to empty, let us know and we can work out arrangements. If they are not already boxed, we will usually repack them off shelves into our own containers for movement )so you will not need boxes), move them out of the home for you, and transport them.
No worries, we will still be coming.! Please make sure the books are covered with a tarp or bags if they are not under cover so they will stay dry or you can move them into a garage. Just let us know if you need to move them by calling or texting us at the contact number we will give you once we confirm.
We accept donations from the metro Phoenix area, including Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Glendale, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills, and the rest of the Valley. If you are further away, we may ask for a specific date to combine several pick-ups in your area to save gas.
We are not a registered charity, so we cannot give you a receipt. We donate most books we receive to a variety of charities. If you need a tax form you may want to take your books to a registered 501(c)(3) organization. If a tax form isn’t needed, we can pick your books up for free.
